Forge World, the Horus Heresy and Warhammer Forge
I apologise for the lack of updates over the past few days. Martin and I have had four days of modelling debauchery. I have spent the last four days doing the following:
- Working on my horde of Nurgle Daemons
- Working on Martin’s Word Bearer’s
- Playing a huge game of 40k
- Playing Relic- the 40K Talisman remake
- Attending the Forge World Open Day
- Eating chicken at Hooters
As you can see- a truly wonderous four day weekend. You may have seen some of the pictures from the open day. I really enjoyed it. I mean the standing in a queue for 2 hours wasn’t the most fun I have ever had but I did enjoy laughing at the people stuck behind me and cursing those lucky enough to be in front. The day had highs and lows. I almost had a heart attack when the Reaver Titan draw was the same colour ticket as mine- shame about the number.
On to what I want to talk about – Warhammer Forge. I had the joy of talking to Steve Whitehead about some of the upcoming Chaos Dwarf releases. He was a very pleasant man and was very open about some of the issues circling the Forge World camp (he also informed me of the model he has created which he hates the most – Bile Trolls).
I enquired as to the likely release date of the K’daai Destroyer. His response was that it is all done and ready to go but it would be a while. Steve was sad to say that not much time is available for Warhammer Forge. With the Heresy being so popular and such a priority- other things get pushed to the side. This is a shame. I mean don’t get me wrong, I am champing at the bit to get my Heresy on but don’t let the other lines fall to wreck and ruin.
It’s not all doom and gloom. It’s not like Forge World are dropping Warhammer Forge all together, but when you see the frankly awesome work that Steve has done on the new Talabheim unit command it’s sad to think that the man makes anything that isn’t Empire! It’s a shame that someone with such an obvious love of the Empire background and aesthetic is being made to make Marines. Now I imagine Steve doesn’t mind. I’m sure he’s happy working on such a massively popular miniature set- like the Heresy but Steve isn’t writing this article.
I am aware that it has already been confirmed that Black Fire Pass has been postponed inevitably but for the love of all that is holy, Forge World- don’t keep me waiting forever.
If you find yourself in agreement or if you think I need to shut my heretic mouth- leave a comment.
